All about the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus

The Galaxy S9 Plus is the incremental evolution of the S8 Plus presented a year earlier by Samsung. This is updating its technical sheet to enter the Snapdragon 845 era (or Exynos 9810 depending on the market), 6 GB of RAM against 4 for its predecessor. It also features a dual photo sensor for the first time. In terms of design, it is practically identical to the S8 Plus except for one detail: the fingerprint sensor, very awkwardly located on the S8, is now located below the photo sensor so that its owner does not constantly have the impression of dirtying the smartphone lens when trying to unlock it.

Like the Samsung galaxy S9, the S9 Plus are clearly iterative evolutions of the Galaxy S8 presented by Samsung a year earlier. We should not expect anything else, as the design introduced with the S8 was already innovative and in its time. Samsung didn't just cram a Snapdragon 845 / Exynos 9810 into its new smartphone, though – the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus is the iteration of refinement. All criticisms made of the S8 Plus have been corrected.

First change: the photo.

For the S8 Samsung had bet on the excellent sensor of the S7 – although already a little overtaken by competitors. The S9 embraces dual sensor, with an amazing f/1.5 and f/2.4 adjustable aperture. The second sensor is a telephoto lens capable of 2X analog magnification. This allows you to refine the Live Focus, the commercial name of the Bokeh effect on this smartphone in Portrait mode. On the technical sheet side, it has 2 GB more RAM than its predecessor.

And of course, the replacement of the fingerprint sensor under the double photo sensor instead of the placement in a row on the S8 has its little appeal. It has a larger battery providing 1 hour of extra battery life. Finally Samsung has reviewed its internal storage options to allow its customers to also opt for 128 GB or 256 GB – appreciable when you know that the internal memory is much faster than the SD slot. Note that the S9 + is more loaded on the technical sheet side than the classic S9, which gives it a major advantage over this generation.

Finally with this generation, Samsung introduced a new DeX mode that does without DeX. It becomes possible to connect the smartphone to a screen via third-party USB type C video adapters, and the smartphone can act as an extra keyboard and mouse. Samsung sells its own adapter, the DeX Pad.
